Turtle Mountain 24-Plex – Advancing Commercial Housing Construction in Belcourt, ND
In 2011, Comstock Construction partnered with EAPC Architects and the Turtle Mountain Housing Authority to deliver a new two-story, 24-unit apartment complex in Belcourt, ND. This commercial housing construction project was designed to provide modern, energy-efficient housing for the community, integrating sustainable features to reduce long-term operational costs.
Purpose-Built for Comfortable and Efficient Living
The Turtle Mountain 24-Plex was designed to maximize both space and functionality, providing:
- Twenty-two standard 1-bedroom units (547 SF each)
- Two ADA-compliant units (594 SF each)
- A community room for social gatherings and resident activities
- Secure storage lockers for each unit
- A shared laundry facility for resident convenience
- An on-site management office for property oversight and tenant support
Innovative Construction for Long-Term Efficiency
To enhance the building’s energy efficiency and sustainability, several advanced construction methods were utilized:
- Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP) for exterior walls, providing superior insulation and reducing heating and cooling costs
- A geothermal heating system, which leverages the Earth’s natural heat to create an energy-efficient climate control system
