Expanding Rural Healthcare: Marshall County Healthcare Center
Comstock Construction played a vital role in the Marshall County Healthcare Center project in Britton, SD, helping improve access to quality medical care in a rural community. The project involved a 7,500-square-foot renovation of the existing Avera clinic along with a 4,500-square-foot expansion, enhancing both patient care and operational efficiency.
Upgraded Facilities for Better Patient Care
The newly remodeled and expanded healthcare facility includes:
- Exam Rooms – Designed to improve patient flow and accommodate modern medical equipment.
- Reception & Waiting Areas – Creating a welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
- Office & Conference Spaces – Providing additional administrative and staff collaboration areas.
CMAR Collaboration
With a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery method selected by the client, Comstock Construction collaborated closely with BWBR Architects and healthcare leadership to ensure the project met all functional and design requirements while staying on schedule and within budget. CMAR is a collaborative three-party system in which the owner contracts directly with a design firm and directly with Comstock. All parties work together in collaboration to establish a design that aligns with the budget.
Construction Self-Performance Capabilities
One of Comstock Construction’s strengths is our ability to self-perform key construction tasks, ensuring quality control and efficiency. For this project, we self-performed:
- Concrete and Precast Installation
- Structural Steel Erection
- Rough Carpentry
- Doors, Hardware, & Specialties
By handling these critical components in-house, we maintained high standards, reduced delays, and ensured seamless coordination between all phases of construction.
