Central School Lot Redevelopment – Transforming History into Future Housing
In 2021, Comstock Construction partnered with the City of Wahpeton to complete the Central School Lot Redevelopment project. The site, once home to the historic Central School, which had served students since 1929, was transformed into a residential development-ready site to support future housing opportunities.
Project Scope – Sitework & Infrastructure Improvements
This project required extensive site preparation and civil construction work to transition the former school site into a fully developed residential lot. Key aspects of the project included:
- Excavation of approximately 450 cubic yards of material – Preparing the site for new infrastructure.
- Utility installation – Sewer, watermain, water service, and fire hydrants to support future housing.
- Concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk installation – Enhancing pedestrian accessibility.
- Concrete alleyway construction – Providing durable access for future residents.
- Lot grading – Ensuring proper drainage and readiness for residential development.
Laying the Groundwork for Future Housing
By completing this comprehensive site redevelopment, Comstock Construction paved the way for future home construction in Wahpeton. The project ensures that the lot is fully equipped with modern infrastructure, making it a prime location for new residential development.
While the old Central School was being demolished, the Comstock Construction team got to work building the new Wahpeton Elementary & Middle Schools. Check out that project and other elementary construction projects here.
